About the Seafarer Certificate

The Seafarer Health Certificate is required for everyone working aboard ships. The certificate confirms that you are medically fit to perform your duties at sea in accordance with the STCW Convention (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers).

We also offer a combined seafarer and offshore certificate for only NOK 3195.

What does the examination include?

  • General health examination
  • Vision and color vision test
  • Hearing test
  • Urine sample
  • Assessment of work capacity at sea

Accepted ID

You must bring valid identification to the examination. The following ID is accepted:

  • Passport
  • National ID card
  • Seafarer's book
  • Physical driver's license (not digital version)
  • Bank card with photo

Validity

The health certificate is normally valid for 2 years if there are no specific illnesses or health conditions. For persons under 18 years of age, the validity is 1 year. Depending on the health situation, restrictions may also be imposed on what and where the seafarer can work.
